General Notes
First of all, credit for the inspiration behind this little enterprise goes to THE greatest multicrossover fanfic ever conceived, which sadly was left incomplete almost a decade ago: m.t.c.f.f. ULTRA, conceived and moderated by Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne and written by a lengthy list of collaborators, among which was yours truly, several times.
The general concept and structure of Ultra is copied wholesale here in Ultima. However, unlike Ultra, which was mired down in apocalyptic heaven-and-hell uberplots that essentially choked the life out of any story thread NOT tied into the uberplots, the plan for Ultima is to keep it pure—to keep the rivalries and story threads grounded, without things getting completely ridiculous.
Why am I doing this? Simple: I realized I really miss writing Ultra.
Character Notes
Due to the vagaries of fiction—particularly long-running series, or series with multiple incarnations—it can be somewhat confusing to read scenes based on a different version of a character than the one you're more familiar with or are expecting. The purpose of this section is to pin down which version(s) of certain characters are in play here.
Freddy Krueger: This is the 2010 Jackie Earle Haley version of Freddy.
Team Konoha: I'm using the Part I, pre-timeskip versions of Naruto characters depicted in Ultima. Basically, we're dealing with Naruto and Hinata from the lengthy stretch of filler episodes between Sasuke's defection and Naruto's three years away from Konoha.
Monkey D. Luffy: I'm very fuzzy on One Piece beyond Water 7, so this is Luffy pre-CP9, the Luffy I'm most familiar with and the one least overpowered for inclusion in Division R. (In other words, no Gears or Haki.)
Megatron: The original, Generation 1 Megatron.
Sailor Senshi: The Senshi competing in Ultima are NOT from ANY canon version of Sailormoon. They're my Moonshadow versions of the Senshi.
Netto/Rockman.EXE: Although the idea of Netto "becoming" Rockman in the real world is from the Axess anime, these ARE the canon GAME versions—Rockman is Saito.
