ABOUT PANGYA
Pangya is a multiplayer online fantasy golf game, created by Ntreev and originating in Korea. There have been many Pangya servers worldwide; currently the three most popular are the original Korean server, the Japanese server, and the North American/Global server.
Pangya, which is free to play (some content requires purchase), features a large selection of courses with breathtaking scenery and varying degrees of difficulty, fantasy elements, and a wide variety of gameplay challenges, more than ten playable characters with hundreds of customization options, a variety of entertaining caddies and mascots, a broad selection of golfing equipment, and ever so much more. Players may compete in stroke or match games against as many as four players, or in timed 9- or 18-hole tournaments with up to 30 players.
Pangya is no ordinary golf simulator! A large part of mastery of Pangya is the mastery of special shots which cause your ball to defy physics for longer-than-usual range drives, precisely aimed landings, and even passing underneath obstacles.
MYTHRIL MOTH'S PANGYA CAREER
I started playing during Season 2 of Pangya (when the North American server was called "Albatross18". At present, I hold the rank of National Pro D. The North American/Global server has changed hands and management several times; when it was still A18, I was the guildmaster of Air Nomads. I still consider myself as such, even though most of the active members of the guild have long since quit playing.
Unlike the majority of Pangya players, I don't "calc"—in other words, I don't use complex mathematics to precisely shoot thousands of Hole-In-Ones and Albatrosses. I play entirely by eye and by gut, relying on sheer skill and luck instead of calculations. I play Pangya to have fun, not to show off how perfect my math is. Considering the hundreds of chip shots and HIOs I've made without calcing, I'd say my skills aren't too shabby.
At present, I am on hiatus from Pangya due to my computer being too crappy and sluggish to reliably play the game anymore. I'm saving up for a new PC; once I have one, I will return to Pangya Island and continue to suck at golf.
LATEST UPDATE: DECEMBER 29, 2012
The site is now woefully out of date due to the addition of courses I've had little to no experience on, and at least one new playable character (I've played a LITTLE since Spica was introduced, but I hear there's another new character now). Once I'm able to play Pangya again, I'll update the site with more recent info.
