Three schoolgirls from Tokyo who were summoned to another world, Cephiro, to become the legendary Magic Knights and prevent its destruction. Given magic by Guru Clef, the girls quested to obtain powerful weapons and to awaken the Legendary Mashin, ancient beings whose power would be necessary to save Cephiro.
"I WANNA SEE HIKARI!"
Hikaru is the most cheerful and energetic of the group. She has studied kendo with her brothers since she was very young, and has great skill with the sword. She wields powerful Fire magic, and can pilot the Mashin Rayearth.
"MOKONA! Get back here so I can pull the stuffing out of you!"
An elegant girl from high society, Umi is a champion fencer and employs Water magic. She pilots the Mashin Selece.
"Please be careful, there could be a monster-san in there."
Gentle, polite, and intelligent, Fuu is the only Knight with no prior experience with swords, having been in the Archery Club in school. Her Wind magic provides support and healing for her friends, and she pilots the Mashin Windam.
